ABC Guests Debate Ten Commandments

ABC News’ unprecedented series on the Ten Commandments starts on Thursday, September 24 with a Nightline face-off on the topic of the 7th Commandment: Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery.” Co-anchor Cynthia McFadden moderates a debate that asks the question: Were we born to cheat?

Participants include: Pastor Ed Young of the Fellowship Church in Dallas, Jonathan Daugherty of Be Broken Ministries, Jenny Block, author of “Open: Love, Sex, and Life in an Open Marriage,” and Noel Biderman, CEO of ashleymadison.com, a website for people who want to cheat on their partners.

Then, on Friday, September 25, Nightline explores the 4th Commandment – Remember to Keep the Sabbath Holy – with a profile of Chick Fil-A, the successful fast food chain that is closed on Sundays. Nightline correspondent Vicki Mabrey sits down with Chick Fil-A’s CEO Dan Cathy, who explains why being closed on Sunday makes great business sense.

ABC is offering up the Ten Commandments quiz with a headline “Are you a saint or a sinner?” People are challenged to identify the commandments amid a 15 or so statements. ABC has it mixed up. Just because you get them all wrong doesn’t mean you are a saint. And even if you get them all right, that doesn’t mean you aren’t a sinner. I’m glad to see ABC air the series. Anything that helps get the word out is great. But we also need to preserve the Gospel without compromise. Let us pray for these Christian leaders who are going to be on the broadcast that their speech be seasoned with salt and they have wisdom and grace.
