Faith to Overcome Temptation

Is your faith strong enough to overcome temptation?

In his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul was concerned about the faith of his spiritual sons and daughters. He longed to visit them, but Satan thwarted him more than once. So he sent faithful Timothy to see how they were faring amid the persecution and temptations of the enemy to once again serve idols instead of the one living God.

Let’s listen in:

“When I could bear [the suspense] no longer, I sent that I might learn [how you were standing the strain, and the endurance of] your faith, [for I was fearful] lest somehow the tempter had tempted you and our toil [among you should prove to] be fruitless and to no purpose” (1 Thessalonians 3:5 AMP).

What I want to point out to you is this: it takes faith to overcome temptations. When your flesh is rising up against you, put your faith to work to overcome. When your mind is under siege with vain imaginations, put your faith to work to overcome. When circumstances rise up to mock you, put your faith to work to overcome.

You have overcoming faith. How do you put it to work? One way is by speaking the Word out of your mouth and believing that it carries an anointing to break yokes and remove burdens.

When you speak with word in faith, it produces more faith by the hearing of it. When you speak the word in faith, you are resisting the devil and he must flee. When you speak the word in faith, you are relying on God instead of yourself.

So next time temptation to doubt, temptation to flesh out, or some other kind of temptation comes at you, exercise your faith.
