Jezebel Seeks to Cut Off God’s Voice with Copyright Law

Jeremiah didn’t copyright his prophetic words. Nor did Isaiah, Samuel, Moses, David, Nathan, Zechariah, Elijah, Elisha, Amos, Michah, Zephaniah… OK, you get the picture. So when I see people in the Body of Christ copyrighting what “thus saith the Lord,” it disturbs my spirit.

Think about it for a minute. According to Miriam-Webster, a copyright is “the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell or distribute the matter and form of something.” When someone violates your copyright, you have a right to file a lawsuit against them for financial damages. Doesn’t it seem silly to copyright a prophetic word, then? Doesn’t it seem outrageous to put God’s word in a legally protected box and be prepared to sue someone who shares it?

A true prophetic word from God should be freely distributable. In fact, if God is really speaking—and if He told you to release the word rather than just praying about it—then why on earth would anyone want to restrict the mass reproduction and distribution of God’s genuine prophetic utterance?

The Heart of the Prophetic

Do you want to prophesy what saith the Spirit of God with greater authority, stronger boldness and increased accuracy? Do you want that double portion that Elisha carried? Learn the keys to flowing in a more powerful prophetic anointing in this highly recommended book.

“I read this manuscript with great scrutiny for I have been a pioneer, promoter and defender of prophets and prophetic ministry for 55 years. I can honestly say that Jennifer covers some very delicate subjects with sound wisdom and integrity.” - Dr. Bill Hamon

“Jennifer LeClaire’s book, in my estimation, is one of the best books on prophecy available.” - Ernest Gentile

“I loved this book! Jennifer does a bold, insightful job of discerning the precious from the worthless (Jeremiah 15:19) yet also pursues us with the love of God.” - Graham Cooke

God certainly isn’t trying to limit his voice on the earth. But there is a spirit that works actively to cut off God’s voice in the earth. That spirit is called Jezebel. There’s also a spirit that seeks to merchandise God’s word and gifts. That spirit is called Balaam. There is also a spirit that seeks to apply rules and regulations to the point that it kills the spirit of a thing. That’s called a religious spirit.

Now, while we’re on the subject, we should address the source of such a prophecy. I submit to you that someone who would take the time to copyright a prophetic word—or even suggest that it is copyrighted whether it is or not by adding the copyright symbol—may not be the best spokesperson for God. Again, I don’t see any prophets in the Bible seeking to put constraints on God’s prophetic word.

Could it be possible that spirits of Jezebel, Balaam and religion have infiltrated prophetic ministry and it’s manifesting through control, merchandising and even copyrighting a prophetic utterance?

Notice the very definition of the word “copyright.” It’s the exclusive legal right to “sell” something. My brothers and sisters, we don’t sell God’s prophetic words. Freely we receive, freely we give. It’s fine to copyright translations of the Bible that were put together with plenty of hard work from scholars. That’s not what I am talking about here. I’m not talking about books, CDs, articles, or other forms of work man originates either, even by the inspiration of God. I’m not talking about your revelations. I’m talking about a pure plain and simple prophetic word. There is no reason to copyright what the Lord has said. The spirit behind this practice is indeed disturbing.

Ever wonder how false prophets become false prophets? Check out my book, “A Prophet’s Heart”—but only if you can handle the truth. You’ll also get a free prophetic podcast and an e-book on prayer when you order today.

I have no idea of what kinds of things (i.e., specific copyrighted prophetic words) she is speaking of, though I can add a perspective.

Sometimes a person will copyright something not to restrict its circulation, but to prevent someone from distorting their words and perhaps attributing the modified document to the original author. If that is a particular concern of someone, copyright law itself allows for ways of free distribution.

One means is thru the Creative Commons license (see http://creativecommons.org ). By licensing a work in this manner, the original author (in this case a prophet) can make sure their words are not misused while allowing them to be given the kind of distribution desired.

The Creative Commons license has several options for an author—they simply choose which type of CC license they wish to release it under and the terms for distribution are made clear by that license. The license can be strict or give great freedom to those down the food chain as desired.

That’s my 2c, FWIW

God gave me a vivid dream showing myself writing a book and even showing me sample names. I started writing my book and shared a few thoughts in May i think it was with someone “well known”. He is now travelling around the world teaching “his new ideas”. He even mentions my email as thou it was sent after he did his writing. what a sleezeball. I won’t sue him but he won’t have anointing when he ministers.

This artical is so very true. a “copyright” on a prophetic word is just mere foolishness and done out of a religious spirit whether known or unknown. You cannot copyright something that you werent the originator, author etc of. a prophetic word comes from God. Therefore He is the one who spoke it first.we are just His vessels…..

Amen @ Jennifer.

his is the first time I’ve ever heard about this! I’m not at all surprised though. My husband and I have dealt full head on with this spirit in the last three churches we were in. I think it’s a larger problem throughout than anyone realizes.

COPYRIGHTING prophetic word tells me that it isn’t prophetic from the Spirit of the Lord. It is someone who thinks they spoke prettily and powerfully and wants to brag about themselves and feel important. Just wow! Can you see PRIDE in that?

It is obvious that the “Voiceofreason” didn’t understand the article and/or the spirit of the article.  Prophets are called to uproot, tear down, sound the alarm, etc.  So in Jennifer’s role as a Prophet and a prophetic voice to the nations, it is her responsibility to advise us of these things.

How can one be the “Voiceofreason” and have very little discernment either spiritual or natural?  The Bible tells us in II Timothy 3:1-3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good…
These things are being exposed in the article that was written by Ms. LeClaire.  We can also see some of these tings in the ” Voiceofreason’s” response.

Additionally, I believe the credibility of Ms. LeClaire as pointed out by “Glorify Christ” speaks for itself.
Therefore, it is important to understand that the Copyright of Jennifer LeClaire Ministries encompasses the books she has already written and the hundreds of other books that are to come.  Ms. LeClaire is also a prolific writer and editor in both the kingdom of God and the secular arena.  Therefore, it only makes since that she has to protect her writings from a business standpoint.  Prophetic utterances are totally different and that was the focus of the article.

GLORIFY CHRIST

Did anybody look at Jennifer’s credentials before attacking her? Bill Hamon, Ernest Gentile, Loren Sandford, Graham Cooke.. this reads like a who’s of apostolic and prophetic leaders. I can’t believe someone wouldn’t take the time to understand what was written before launching such a nasty attack.

She’s talking about copyrighting a prophetic word, not a web site, not a book, not even a Bible translation. Seriously.

Do we not have more important things to put our time into than copyrighting prophetic words!

I’m amazed at the ignorance of “The Voice of Reason.” Clearly, this person either has a nasty religious spirit, can’t read plain english, or, most likely, is one of the people how is copyrighting prophetic utterances and merchandising God’s people. Jennifer didn’t launch a personal attack against anyone. She’s calling out a practice that’s disturbing. From what I can see, Jennifer is selling a couple of books and she is posting articles, which are copyrighted. Voice of Reason, you need to check your heart.

In His Service
In His Service

To the comment by Voice of Reason, the article is clearly about copyrighting “prophetic words” not books or other material that are as you are saying ‘someone’s original thoughts and ideas’, which I am in favor of.  The fact is prophetic words are NOT the prophets ‘original thoughts and ideas’ they are utterances released to them by God for which they are merely a steward.

God’s prophetic utterances do NOT need to be copyrighted - because no “person’s rights” need to be protected.

Copyright is not just for selling. It’s to protect credit for someone’s orginal thoughts and ideas and to prevent others from unjustly profiting from your thoughts and ideas once they are place in tangible form. Most ministries copyright anything they publish. Copyright also prevents someone from altering (creating derivative works from) your written words as well. Most Bibles and their various translations (Ryrie NAS, Dakes annotated etc) are copyright protected too. The Bible is filled with prophetic words too.
