The Church of Jezebel: Fact or Fiction?
Published Friday, February 26th, 2010 in Jezebel Spirit
I read about a new fiction book called, “The Church of Jezebel: Hijacking the Gospel” by Derik Girdwood. It’s billed as a suspenseful novel about a murder revealed and the subsequent discoveries a young Christian woman makes as she finds out all is not what it seems in the world of the church and its missionaries. I haven’t read the book, but the author says it doesn’t have a happy ending.
Here’s a bit about the book from the author’s marketing team:
Eighteen year old Christina has entered a Bible college with the purpose of becoming a warrior for God. Her roommate, Becky, begins dating the pastor’s son and soon finds she is pregnant, but to Christina’s surprise the college announces that Becky has committed suicide and that a foundation has been formed in her name. When Christina is told by a detective that Becky has been murdered and that Christina is a suspect, a strange journey begins of a mission’s trip to Haiti. Derik Girdwood uses his tale of twists and turns to expose the dangers of faith healing, false prophets, Christ-consciousness, the Jezebel spirit and other anti-Gospel doctrines that threaten a Christian these days. The novel cites appropriate scripture along its dramatic path and is based on Genesis 3: 4-6, where the serpent tempts Eve to disobey God so that Eve and Adam can become as God.

The Heart of the Prophetic
Do you want to prophesy what saith the Spirit of God with greater authority, stronger boldness and increased accuracy? Do you want that double portion that Elisha carried? Learn the keys to flowing in a more powerful prophetic anointing in this highly recommended book.
“I read this manuscript with great scrutiny for I have been a pioneer, promoter and defender of prophets and prophetic ministry for 55 years. I can honestly say that Jennifer covers some very delicate subjects with sound wisdom and integrity.” - Dr. Bill Hamon
“Jennifer LeClaire’s book, in my estimation, is one of the best books on prophecy available.” - Ernest Gentile
“I loved this book! Jennifer does a bold, insightful job of discerning the precious from the worthless (Jeremiah 15:19) yet also pursues us with the love of God.” - Graham Cooke
I thought this was interesting. The spirit of Jezebel has certainly hijacked parts of the prophetic ministry. Could the jezebel spirit hijack the Church? Unfortunately, many have seen the spirit of Jezebel ruin their lives, rob their inheritance and otherwise make them miserable with manipulation and control. The good news is we don’t have to stand for the spirit of Jezebel - we can stand up to it with the authority we’ve been given in Jesus Christ. In fact, we have a responsibility to stand up to the spirit of Jezebel rather than coming under this wicked influence.
Check out my book, “The Heart of the Prophetic” to read more about Jezebel Prophets, how to avoid them - and how to avoid becoming like them.

I personally encounter this spirit of jezebel. The thing is,I didn’t know it till the damage was done.
When I was going through the ordeal, I could not figure out how can the leadership of a ““prophetic”“could they be so cold, say white lies and most of all how they cover up so many things. I kept asking God…what’s is going on???no respond, for about 8months. Finally, I just got tired of all the pretending and all the lies that I broke loose of the (what I called little games) church.
This when God began to show me things…first of God began healing me, I felt like webs of spired been removed from me(literally!), super naturally cleansing me in my sleep; I used to wake up cryingn, a gOod kind of crying(a cleansing kind of crying, from the belly). Then He gave me a dream one night… Of two of the young ladies the where part of the mega church that I had prombles with. Anyways,(to make this short) they where stading together and behind them was a old woman dressed in black and she had heavy makeup on her face and she had her hand over their heads doing a circles…that was it.
After I got up from the dream I was Lord who was that? It took like a week before He showed me, who that old lady was, through a book that my roomate brough over. When I saw the title ” the Lord said that it! The name of the book…the spirit of jezebel!.
Anyways that was in 2006, It has take a lot cleasing, healing and just re learning things againg about hearing from God. You see prior to this incident I thought that ALL people heard God…boy was I wrong! I have gone through a very painful, lonely, at time boreline crazyexperince, but God kept me! I don’t know how but He did! I learned a lot through that experience,it has given me depht, a deeper foundation and I don’t play along anymore with people white lies or whatever is agaisnt God word, cause anytime you do, you allow a web to begin to entangle you.
The so much I like to share , but I don’t really like writting : ). God bless and for all that have been hurt by churches…forgive them and I pray that God would protect your heart from becoming bittet, hateful or just flippant about the things of God.

What kind of spiritual warfare did you encounter as you wrote this book?

@Derik: I think your first comment really touches on a very important topic “they do not know the Bible or they fear opposing him” - I’m sure we all have stories we can relate to where we encountered these issues. I could be wrong but it seems to me that most people in church are not really going to give, but going to get; to self serve. Its irritating to me, how many ‘Superstars’ have to fall before people will wake up?!
Anyway, it kind of sounds like it may be written in style of F. Peretti? Hope to read it soon.

Thank you Jennifer,
The book has a few “Jezebel” characters in it. The chief one is the “church prophet” and his words to the congregation and at his invitation-only seminars are alarming, even satanic. The problem with most of the congregation is that they do not know the Bible or they fear opposing him, Another character is the pastor’s wife, who tries to undermind the pastor and has her own agenda for the mega-church. Another character is a bitter and angry divorced woman who is obsessed with her ex husband. Finally, the main character, Christina, the college student has her “sweet spiiritual wine” turn rapidly to “vinegar” as she becomes convinced that she can be like God through her faith. There are plenty of Ahab’s too. It is my first book, so if you do read it…......be gentle :) The website to order it is http://www.churchofjezebel.com
Bless you.

HI Derik,
I haven’t read the book yet, but it certainly got my attention. From the summaries, it sounds like you’ve captured the essence of a major issue facing the Body of Christ today—the tolerance of the Jezebel spirit. Certainly, it destroys lives and destinies. By taking a fiction approach to this issue, you can safely illustrate the destruction this spirit brings with practical illustrations. The spirit of Jezebel is a key focus of in one chapter of my book, “The Heart of the Prophetic.” I’m glad you undertook this project.
Bless you,
Jennifer LeClaire
